Nice designs mitch.

What's the difference between a monster and an alien?

Thnks Fons,

Uhm yeah, that's a good one :P

You mean that aliens need to adopt themeselfs to a totaly other environment than monsters?

Didn't really thinked about that when doing these sketches...

From your sketches, the one in the top right corner looks like an alien to me. The other ones are hairy monsters.

I'm just thinking about the premise. A ufo abducting an alien is a bully-ufo. Kinda interesting. A ufo abducting a monster (or general funny looking cartoon character) is just common ufo behaviour.
I'm not saying one is good and the other bad, but it might be good to consider if the whole aliens vs aliens thing happens to be at the very core of your story - and the underlying basis for your comedy. If that's true, you want to amplify that throughout, meaning you'd have to be careful not alienating (pun intended) your viewers from what they know and will recognize.

Considering Fons' justified question about what constitute an alien or a hairy monster, I think I need to rework mine a little bit to make them look more like aliens, although there are historical exceptions like Chewbacca!!! :-)

I shouldnt be teasing you. This doesnt have to be a design matter, but it sure is a directorial decision. What it comes down to is: how do we know the aliens in the ufo are taking on one of their own kind?
You can absolutely solve it on a storytelling level, rather than in the design. Just spend a little time in this animation to explain the relationships of everything involved..before you go around and turn everything upside down.

Good work Mitch!

Is this Ch a main, regular Ch1, or just a bypassing, 'disposable' Ch3?

Keep it to the bone. Known is, that this alien is 'hair'. Head, facial and pubic hair (I guess).

Look for emotional 'conflict'. If there are bully's, it would be more funny when they pick on something looking like it has been carefully modeled all morning. Or that it is the friendliest, nicest, warmest and just lovely-est old woman neighbor we would have ever seen. Ehm, told in 'hair' :)

What would be the biggest contrast between full-of-hair and naked?

And never publicly type that you don't think while drawing. Go to bed more early next time ;)
